|In the month of January the Executive Board celebrated MLK Day by serving as ushers for the day at the Civil Rights Institute. Hundreds of people visited and toured the institute to celebrate Kings memory with fellowship and education. The mission of the Institute is “to promote civil and human rights worldwide through education “.
||In the month of April the Executive Board celebrated Earth Day by volunteering in a community service project at the Botanical Gardens. The Botanical Gardens celebrated 50yrs with an annual celebration partnered with Community Garden Coalition for Birmingham to focus on the growing local and national interest in community gardening. Displays and demonstrations were featured on topics such as: vegetable garden design, raised bed construction, composting, trellising, rainwater irrigation and beekeeping.
